Adventures with Lego Man

Meet Lego Man. Kai decided Mr. Lego Man would make a good dinner guest tonight. {It would have been nice if Mr. Kai Kai had eaten his dinner, but tomorrow's another day.}

Kai sweetly tucked in a toy pot holder behind Lego Man's head. A little cushioning is always appreciated. :)

As you can see, Elmo also made the guest list.

Kai probably walked around the house "drinking" from this empty cup a solid 15 minutes after his little party.

This picture is a little random, but it's Kai's new "Thing". This "Home Alone" movie impersonation is actually Kai indicating that something is too loud. Two weeks ago I couldn't keep his paws off my clock radio...He was jamm'n to Mick Jagger at full volume. Now the washing machine is "too loud". Silly little goose.

New 'Do

Kai has made the living room chair an oasis of toys. :)

I took Kai for a haircut today. I should have done a better job explaining how short I wanted to go with the cut. I prefer to leave the top longer to avoid the weird rooster tail thing Kai gets if it is too short. Oops. We made the best of it and gave him a little spike in the front. It grows out fast enough; besides Kai is rock'n in his faux hawk.

So here is a list of things Kai has been up to these days:
HELPING ...Really this should be in quotation marks because sometimes it results in more work for me, but his heart is in the right place. Kai enjoys unloading the dishwasher (after I remove the basket of sharp utensils), collecting dirty laundry, loading and unloading the dryer, "folding" clothes, vacuuming and sweeping, feeding the dog, cleaning up his toys, "washing" stuff with a damp cloth, "fixing" stuff around the house and garage with Rob's hand tools, and putting away the groceries. He is always so proud of himself for contributing. It sounds like I should have a tidy house, but alas, I do not.
FLARE for the DRAMATIC...Aside from some colossal two year old tantrums that surface every now and again, Kai has put his dramatic side to creative use. Reading books together before bed has taken a recent turn. Instead of helping to wind him down for lights out, Kai is "acting out" the scene on each page (complete with sound effects). Kai also loves learning new dance moves or signing along to different kid songs. As always, Kai's over-the-top facial expressions are priceless.
CLOTHING...From the start, Kai has abhorred clothing. He loves the mall until we enter the threshold of an apparel store. At this point, heads turn because Kai belts out a loud protest hoping we can just continue to walk the halls. It is a wrestling match just to get him dressed and undressed everyday. Kai happily wears layers of sweatshirts to avoid the mention of putting on a coat. If you can believe it, when we met Kai as he just turned 16 months old, he was wearing size 3-6 month clothing. These days, Kai is wearing 18-24 month clothes. His tiny feet were probably a size 2 or 3 when we met him and now he wears 5 1/2. This little guy is full steam ahead on the growth charts. Last May Kai weighed approx. 15 lbs and now is weighing in at 25 lbs. He's a good eater and a strong healthy toddler.
HUMOR...Kai has been cracking us up since day #1, but now his sense of humor is evolving. Kai plays tricks on us now and then falls over laughing at the joke he made. When watching Sesame Street, he is wild with giggles because he now understands the comedy of each sketch.
