We are complete!

Today we met the one thing missing in our already full and wonderful life together - we met Kai.

Kai is the sweetest, most gentle little boy you will ever meet. Kai looks longingly into our eyes, craving that contact at all times. He has settled in with us almost instantly. He wants to be held at all times or sitting beside us on the bed playing with his toys. Kai is even smaller than we expected, his tiny little body will quickly become stronger with 1:1 attention and exercise, but at the moment, he is swimming in his clothing and we haven't any other options for a while. He loves his board books, stuffed animals and other odds and ends that become toys once he gets hold. He just fell asleep (hours past his scheduled nap time - hopefully we won't regret this later ). I don't have too much time to write before I'll need to wake him, but here are a few things we are learning about our Kai Kai:

  • Banging hard objects together like drums is the best.
  • Size 18 mth pants literally fall off his body when he is picked up - we think he is around 16 lbs.
  • He love playing by the window and mirror.
  • Dropping objects to make Baba pick them up thousands of times is the best form of entertainment.
  • Eye contact is a must every few seconds to make sure we are both still here.
  • Kai is extremely observant, watching absolutely everybody and everything around him.
  • He knows how to drink from an open cup if it is held up to him.

Well, I really should wake him now (as much as I'd rather not- he looks so peaceful). I'll have Rob post a few photos when he gets the chance and when we get home we will post the video of our first encounter together. Tomorrow everything becomes completly official and he will be ours always!

  • He may have a few tiny unrepaired holes in his palate - H2O made an appearence from his nostrils.

  1. How can it be that a baby could be so very beautiful. There are many people on this side of the river who are completely in love already.
