We're in Nanjing!

Wow. Busy, busy, busy. We haven't stopped moving. We just flew into the city. We had hoped for more time to write on the blog, but we are in the room very seldom -  and are always on the move. Instead of being in a large group, as we were in Beijing, we are on our own until Friday. We met our new guide for this leg of the trip and he will be with us as we complete Kai's adoption and for a few days of sightseeing. We will rejoin our travel group in Guangzhou on Friday night until our departure Thursday.
So tomorrow a.m. at 9:30, we will meet our little Kai Kai! Our guide will bring us to the CCAA's Nanjing office to receive Kai from the orphanage staff. I am told that Nanjing's process is streamlined. Rather than needing to make multiple visits to government offices, we will be able to do everything in one place. Even though the hotel, orphanage, and government offices are very close in distance, the heavy road congestion makes any commuting a difficult pursuit. Tomorrow will be considered our "bonding period" to introduce families to their child before they are expected to make the lifelong commitment. On Wed. we will finalize his adoption with a few more documents and an interview with officials.
We will likely be able to visit his orphanage as well. Most families are not permitted to do so, however, Nanjing SWI is more accommodating in this way. It will be invaluable to us and Kai to meet his caregivers and experience the atmosphere of this facility. Well we really need to prepare for tomorrow and get some rest before our BIG DAY! Until tomorrow.... -Beth
